Enrollment and Registration
Instructions for Foreign Students:
- Foreign students can join Al-Azhar University (Arabic and religious studies colleges) if their high school certificate is equivalent to the certificate offered by Al-Azhar Secondary Institutes for Muslim Envoys (Buʿouth).
- Foreign students can join Al-Azhar Secondary Institutes if their preparatory school certificate is equivalent to the certificate offered by Al-Azhar Preparatory Schools for Muslim Envoys.
- Foreign students can join Al-Azhar University (non-religious studies colleges: science and humanities) if their high school certificate is not equivalent to the certificate offered by Al-Azhar Secondary Institutes for Muslim Envoys. However, the certificate must be acceptable by the universities in the applicants’ own country and certified by its embassy and the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
- Applicants, under the age of 30 who cannot speak Arabic, and who have no study certificates, have to join Al-Azhar Institute of Arabic for up to two years. Then they can join a preparatory school institute (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year) or a secondary school institute (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year) at Al-Azhar according to a placement test that determines their levels.
- Applicants, under the age of 30, who can speak Arabic, yet they have no study certificates, can join a preparatory institute (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year) or a secondary institute (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year) at Al-Azhar according to a placement test that determines their levels.
