A delegation from the Department of Arabic Language, Mumbai College, Calicut University, in Kerala, visited the Education Development Center for Al-Azhar International Students (EDCAIS) to get acquainted with the educational programs and activities offered to foreign students enrolled at Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif. They also aimed to benefit from the EDCAIS’s expertise in teaching and promoting the Arabic language among non-native speakers.
The delegation expressed their appreciation for the role played by Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif under the leadership of HE Prof. Ahmad At-Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, in serving and caring for the Indian students studying at Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif, applauding the educational initiatives, programs, and activities provided by the EDCAIS. Likewise, they praised the EDCAIS’s introduction of a course titled At-Tuhfah Al-Azhariyyah within the curricula studied by non-Arabic speaking students in the various Al-Azhar-affiliated centers and institutes around the world.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Nahla As-Saidi accompanied the delegation members on an inspection tour around EDCAIS, to see its departments, research units, and student halls. She also presented them with a copy of the Al-Tuhfah Al-Azhariyyah series on teaching the Arabic language to non-native speakers. In return, the delegation presented Dr. As-Saidi with the University of Calicut Shield in appreciation of her efforts in serving Indian expatriate students at Al-Azhar Ash-Sharif.
