As a part of the Egyptian diplomacy's efforts to unify visions and develop the capabilities of its cadres, the General Director of Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE), Reham Salama, gave a lecture to the 57th class of the Institute for Diplomatic Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
During the lecture, Dr. Salama addressed the pivotal role of soft power in building regional and international peace, emphasizing the significance of effective coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Egyptian envoys abroad to maximize this role. She also reviewed the efforts exerted by Al-Azhar as a cornerstone of the Egyptian soft power, with special focus on Al-Azhar pioneering role in confronting extremism through the Observatory.
Dr. Salama explained the working mechanisms of AOCE, whose 13 units monitor, analyze, and study motivations of extremism through dedicated work based on a scientific methodology and using various languages. Moreover, she highlighted AOCE's recent prominent publications, whether audio, video, written, or online.
The lecture briefed the 63 diplomats about Al-Azhar's experience in combating extremism and AOCE’s vital role as a think tank working to protect youth from delusive approaches.
