Al-Azhar Commemorates the 80th Birthday of Grand Imam Ahamd Al-Tayeb
In recognition of its eminent scholars and distinguished symbols, and as a reminder to successive generations that sincere dedication is measured not by the passage of years but by lasting impact—and that wisdom, when coupled with sincere work, shapes a legacy worthy of celebration—Al-Azhar launched a special on-line commemoration marking the 80th birthday of His Eminence Prof. Ahmad Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, under the title “80 Years of Wisdom”. This initiative documents an exceptional scholarly, humanitarian, and patriotic journey spanning eight decades, during which His Eminence has remained a steadfast symbol of wisdom and moderation, and a true voice for the tolerance of Islam.
The celebration highlights selected moments from the personal and professional life of the Grand Imam, presenting a profound human portrait of a scholar who devoted his life to knowledge, wisdom, and continuous giving. Over the years, his voice advocating global peace and humanitarian coexistence has resonated across the world, reaching major international capitals—from the Vatican to Washington, and from Mosco to Beijing.
It is worth noting that this campaign goes beyond a birthday celebration. It seeks to document a remarkable journey of giving, during which the Grand Imam dedicated eight decades of his life for the service of this venerable institution and advocating it message of tolerance and moderation in service of our nation and humanity at large.
