Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Congratulates Pope Tawadros II and Christian Brothers on Easter
His Eminence, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhe Prof. Ahmed El-Tayeb,  conducted a phone call with His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, to congratulate him on the occasion of Easter. During the call, His Eminence expressed his sincere wishes to the Pope and all Christian brothers in Egypt and across the world to enjoy continued goodness and peace.
The Grand Imam affirmed that such occasions represent a renewed opportunity to solidify values of love and tolerance among Egyptians—both Muslims and Christians—and to strengthen the bonds of fraternity and national unity. His Eminence stressed that Egyptians will remain a distinctive model of cohesion and coexistence, united by a shared history and a common destiny. He also prayed Allah, the Almighty, to protect Egypt from all harm, grant its people security and stability, and prevail peace and prosperity across the world.
On his part, Pope Tawadros II expressed his deep appreciation for the Grand Imam’s kind gesture. His holiness stressed that holidays are an opportunity to renew the bonds of love and affection among Egyptians. He also pointed out that the spirit of fraternity uniting the Egyptians serves as a cornerstone of the country’s stability. He further added that the strong cohesion between Muslims and Christians in Egypt embodies a unique civilized image, confirming that Egypt remains a homeland based on mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
