AOCE Hosts HRH Prince Radu of Romania; Reviews Global Mechanisms for Deconstructing Hate Speech and Violence

Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) received His Royal Highness Prince Radu of Romania for an official visit to examine Egypt’s pioneering experience in youth fortification and countering extremist ideologies. HRH was received by Dr. Reham Salama, Executive Director of the AOCE, alongside a distinguished group of AOCE researchers representing various languages.

During the meeting, Dr. Salama delineated the Observatory’s operational strategy, which is predicated upon deconstructing extremist thought through 13 foreign language units tasked with the continuous monitoring and refutation of narratives disseminated by terrorist organizations across cyberspace. She underscored that the AOCE accords a high priority to combating hate speech against the "other," while advancing the principles of citizenship and peaceful coexistence and conveying the authentic image of Islam as a faith of peace and constructive development.

She further explained that the AOCE employs content and data analysis methodologies to track the trajectories of violent discourse across digital platforms, a mechanism that serves to anatomize the ideological structure of extremist messaging and monitor the behavioral variables of global terrorist groups, with a specific focus on exposing the falsehood of deviant religious interpretations. The visit also featured a review of the "Terrorism Index" issued by the AOCE as a measurement tool to identify tension hotspots and violations in Africa, thereby contributing to the provision of accurate security and intellectual forecasting for decision-makers.

The visit included a tour of the AOCE departments, where the monitoring and analysis mechanisms used by researchers to track violations committed by extremist groups worldwide were demonstrated. Light was also shed on the periodic reports issued by the AOCE regarding the status of Muslim communities and efforts to combat "Islamophobia," in addition to multilingual awareness campaigns aimed at protecting youth from intellectual recruitment.

At the conclusion of the visit, both sides underscored the importance of unifying international efforts to confront extremist ideology in all its forms, while praising the status of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif as a global reference point working to consolidate world stability and correct misconceptions through its modern, cutting-edge tools such as the Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism.
