AOCE: The Initial Activities of “Insight” Initiative for Promoting Awareness in Assiut

In collaboration with “Benaa Office” affiliated to Al-Azhar Institute Sector, Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism (AOCE) initiated a new 5-day awareness activity under the slogan “Insight” in Assiut. This initiative aims to promote Al-Azhar’s scholarly and educational role in shaping the character of new generations and fortifying them, intellectually and culturally, against extremist ideologies. It seeks to enhance the young generation’s abilities to think critically, analyze, and confront extremist approaches. The core message focuses on instilling the genuine teaching of Islam that enhances human values.
In their discussions, AOCE’s researchers focused on several critical intellectual issues, including:
* An overview of the Al-Azhar Observatory and its role in protecting youth
* Preservation of intellect in light of the challenges of the digital age
* The concept of extremism and the urgent need for awareness and insightful confrontation
* The role of women in combating deviant ideologies
* Online extremism and its repercussions on the individual and society.
* Moderate understanding of religious texts and refuting the extremist allegations
* Advantages of artificial intelligence and a warning against destructive fatwas
* An analysis of extremist approaches and the importance of accepting the other
* Preservation of the five essentials in Islam, as a foundation for the objectives of Islamic law
* How to deal with differing jurisprudential opinions?
The symposium witnessed great interactive dialogue and distinguished participation from students, both males and females, particularly after showing a large number of the Observatory's visual productions.
